408 ”Toilet Bowl”
Wednesday Oct 06, 2021
Wednesday Oct 06, 2021
Episode 408! Lots going on in Dillon, and Havan IronOak tries to relay it all to you, as you can see here: "When East Dillon and the only other winless team in the district face off, locals term it the "Toilet Bowl." This conflicts with Coach's and Buddy's attempts to get play-by-play coverage from a local radio station. Meanwhile, Julie & Mrs. Taylor visit her old alma mater. Landry tries to convince Jess that he's completely over Tryra and that they should date. Vince's mom invites Jess to dinner with her and her son. Tim Riggins helps Luke get pain meds following an injury on the ranch without letting Coach Taylor know. Riggins also discovers that his brother Billy has been running a chop shop operation on the side to make extra money and when Tim's more legitimate attempts at landing a job fall through he considers joining him."
Josh and Anthony talk about all of that, PLUS Baby Gracie Alien Conspiracy Theories, Indian Americans trying to find love, vacations in Mexico, Landry being awful, being from a small town, and ANTHONY GETS POLITICAL (but actually in a really nice way). They give out all the weekly awards including the Coach Taylor Inspo-Rating, the Tim Riggins Big Rigg Beer Tally, the Julie Taylor Hate-O-Meter, and more on this weeks INSTANT CLASSIC episode of Reliving the Lights: A Friday Night Lights rewatch podcast!

Mindy's maternity gets more expensive than Billy was prepared for and the Landing Strip girls throw a fund-raiser. Tammy's staff celebrates an academic award with a karaoke night and Glenn goes a bit too far."

Another GREAT episode of FNL this week. Here's the IronOak summary: "Craziness comes to East Dillon when their scheduled football game against the undefeated McNulty team means that the game will be televised. Meanwhile Lyla remains in Dillon after the funeral and she and Tim reconnect. Julie goes AWOL to a music festival in Austin in hopes of cheering Matt up. Following their first kiss, Landry confesses to Jess that he may still not be completely over Tyra."
Anthony and Josh talk about all that PLUS Kesha, online shopping, Baby Gracie's ugliness, the Heartless Bastards, Civet Cat Poop Coffee, traveling by train and bus, and the childhood friends' phone numbers still lodged in their brains. As always, they give out the Coach Taylor Inspo-Rating, the Julie Taylor Hate-O-Meter, the Tim Riggins Big Rigg Beer Tally, and all the other weekly awards on this week's INSTANT CLASSIC episode of Reliving the Lights: A Friday Night Lights Rewatch Podcast!

405 ”The Son”
Sunday Sep 12, 2021
Sunday Sep 12, 2021
So, this one was kind of a bummer. I mean, it was a really good episode. One of the best of the series (if you ask Anthony, anyway). But Matt's dad died, so a little rough. But we still got some laughs out of it and of course good conversation.
Here's what Havan IronOak had to say bout it: "Just as the East Dillon Lions start to perform as a team, the town of Dillon is rocked with the news of the death of Matt's dad. Coach & Mrs Taylor and Julie all do their part to help Matt weather the storm. Landry & Riggins & the rest all rally to help as well but ultimately Matt must make peace with his dad on his own. Meanwhile Becky connects with Luke after he's been paint-balled by some of his former friends and the two finally..."
Not sure if Havan is trying to be suggestive or just forgot to finish his synopsis... Anyway, Josh and Anthony talk about all that plus Anthony's review of Donda, a new MoviedudeTwo synopsis, what their beauty pageant talent would be, the Grief Store, Diamond Dallas Page Yoga, and paintballing.
Of course, all the weekly awards are given out (except for the Goofus Maloofus award, we decided to give Matt a pass this week) on this week's INSTANT CLASSIC episode of Reliving the Lights: a Friday Night Lights Rewatch Podcast.

Monday Sep 06, 2021
Here we go. Havan IronOak's summary of the episode: "Coach Taylor tries to foster community interest in the East Dillon Lions by staging a pep-rally while dealing with the increasing friction between Vince and Luke, his two star players. Tammy is still suffering the repercussions of making Luke Cafferty attend East Dillon. Riggins finds himself pageant dress shopping with his landlady's daughter and hunting with a trigger happy Matt Saracen. Meanwhile Julie accompanies Devin to a gay bar and runs into someone unexpected."
Josh and Anthony conduct a scientific experiment as well as discuss how Matt killed a guy, Scrabble and the evolution of language, marathon mimosa drinking, and Anthony's absolute MASTERPIECE of a MoviedudeTwo summary.
All that, plus all the weekly awards on this week's CLASSIC episode of Reliving the Lights: A Friday Night Lights Rewatch Podcast.

401 "East of Dillon"
Saturday Aug 14, 2021
Saturday Aug 14, 2021
So... No Moviedude1 this week... Here's... Havan IronOak? "Coach Taylor is faced with building a football program from the ground up after the redistricting splits Dillon into two high-school districts. East Dillon is without funds, without a qualified coaching staff and without talent after the gerrymandering that was done by the Dillon Panther Boosters. Meanwhile Tim Riggins gives up on college and returns to Dillon only to find that you can't always go home again. Matt Saracen & Julie struggle with their roles in football crazed Dillon, now that Matt is no longer on the team."
The guys talk about all that, plus the Olympics, offer some apologies for getting some things wrong on a previous episode, one again proclaim Taylor Kitsch as our generations' Tom Cruise, shed a few goodbye tears, and listen to some Sarah McLachlan.
All that, plus the Coach Taylor Inspo-Rating, Julie Taylor Hate-O-Meter, Buddy Garrity Sleazeball Move of the Week, and all the other weekly awards on this week's INSTANT CLASSIC episode of Reliving the Lights: A Friday Night Lights Rewatch Podcast!

Old faithful, Moviedude1 has the Dillon recap for us once again this week. Good ol' Moviedude1. What would we do with you, Moviedude1? Never leave, and never change, Moviedude1. Here we go:
"Skipping ahead five months in time, Dillon High School finds its graduating class with: Lyla, who's father has come up with a plan for her to still possibly attend Vanderbilt; Matt, who plans to attend a school in Chicago away from Julie; Tim, whose brother tries to get a mechanic's garage going while planning to attend college himself; and Tyra, who's application is still up in the air in wanting to attend TU. Meanwhile, the issue over splitting Dillon High School seems small, compared to the fact that outside influences such as money and a control for power continue to affect Coach Taylor, even while his contract comes up for negotiations."
IT'S A SEASON FINALE EPISODE! The guys are joined by some VERY special guests: former Platte Black Panthers and current Friday Night Lights fans Austin Ringling and Myles Kuiper. Those fellas give us some high school football memories, and Myles shares what it's like to actually be involved with HS football in Texas. The crew actually figures out what Buddy's REAL name is (since Buddy is obviously a nickname), they retell the legendary, bad-ass tale of Josh playing the last football game of his high school career with a broken jaw, and they debate the merits of buying a steer as a business strategy.
All that, plus the Julie Taylor Hate-O-Meter, the Tim Riggins Big Rigg Beer Tally, the Buddy Garrity Sleazeball Move of the Week, and all the other weekly awards on this week's INSTANT CLASSIC episode of Reliving the Lights: a Friday Night Lights Rewatch Podcast!

Saturday Jul 31, 2021
Here's the MD1 summary. It's bad. It's real bad.
"The Taylors are faced with a decision that could end what is already a fragile friendship with the McCoys. Lila informs her father of her alternate decision after her chances of attending her dream college have fallen through, Landry tries to help Tyra with her college essay, and Matt has dreams of attaining some kind of post-high school education."
Josh and Anthony discuss all that, plus coozies, favorite months, underwear preferences, through the gate or over the fence, toilet seat covers, I Think You Should Leave, serving jobs, minimum wage and working for tips, high school football bus chants, and much much more. All that, plus all the weekly awards on this week's INSTANT classic episode of Reliving the Lights: A Friday Night Lights Rewatch Podcast.
